Dust Absorption toward Supernova Remnant W44

In this paper, we observe four background stars expected to be absorbed by the molecular clouds associated with SNR W44. Water ice absorption at 3 um is detected, while CO ice at 4.67 um is tentatively detected. The ice abundances and abundance ratios suggests ice destruction by the SNR. We also detect the 3.4 um absorption expected to originate from aliphatic hydrocarbon dusts, which was commonly found in diffuse gas instead of dense molecular clouds. We discuss several possibility of producing this absorption in molecular clouds affected by an SNR.
